How to Freeze Precooked Stuffed Bell Peppers

How to Freeze Precooked Stuffed Bell Peppersthumbnail You can also store stuffed pepper stuffing separately to fill fresh bell peppers. Stuffed bell peppers can be a hearty meal to feast on, with the potential for leftovers. Traditional stuffed bell peppers contain ingredients including ground beef, rice and tomato sauce. Freezing precooked stuffed peppers allows for a ready-to-eat meal after thawing and reheating. The texture of the peppers and rice may soften; however, cooking the stuffed peppers at a high temperature can create a crispier consistency. Follow shelf-life storage recommendations for recipe ingredients to preserve and eat stuffed peppers before spoilage.

Allow precooked stuffed peppers to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until cool to the touch. Remove and jar extra sauce to prevent the peppers from getting soggy in the freezer.

2

Place the peppers in an airtight zipper-lock bag or container. Leave space between the peppers so that they do not stick together during the freezing process. Seal the zipper-lock or lid to prevent freezer burn and leakage.

3

Affix a blank label or piece of tape to the outside of the bag or container. Write "Stuffed Peppers" and the freezer date with a permanent marker.

4

Place the bag or container of stuffed bell peppers in your freezer for two to three months, based on the food storage chart for meat provided by the US Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service.
